Erik Karlsson and Henrik Lundqvist
Lundqvist and Karlsson played together on Team Sweden at the 2014 Olympics, where they lost to Canada in the final. Before last night’s Penguins game, Erik Karlsson joined Lundqvist on the NHL on TNT broadcast. They discussed the upcoming Olympic Games—though not without Karlsson sneaking in a few chirps at his former teammate. As soon as Karlsson learned he’d be speaking with Lundqvist, he went straight into chirp mode.
“My man! The only guy to show me up. I show up thinking I look great, and then you come along,” Karlsson joked, referencing Lundqvist’s well-known fondness for fashion.
Fired off hilarious chirp
After talking about the Olympics and Team Sweden’s chances in the tournament, Erik Karlsson learned that Lundqvist will actually be in Italy for the Games. They agreed to meet for a cup of coffee during the Olympics—after which Karlsson slipped in one more chirp.
“The only request I have for you is: please don’t wear a suit,” he said.
