Chris Chelios gives hilarious take on Marchand–Dahlin incident

Last Saturday, Brad Marchand tore apart the helmet of Buffalo Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin after the two had an on-ice argument. Now, Hall of Famer Chris Chelios is sharing his thoughts on the situation — and how he would have handled it. And fans love it.

Brad Marchand doesn’t have many friends on opposing teams. His feisty style of play often gets under his opponents’ skin, and Rasmus Dahlin is no exception. The two have clashed before, and on Saturday, Dahlin hit Marchand with a big cross-check that made Marchand lose it.

Marchand got fined

Marchand jumped Dahlin and landed a few punches before the officials broke it up. On his way to the penalty box, Marchand grabbed Dahlin’s helmet and brought it with him. There, he tore the helmet apart and threw it back onto the ice. Marchand was heavily criticized for his actions and fined $5,000. Now, Chris Chelios is weighing in on the situation.

Chris Chelios weighed in on the incident

As a guest on the NHL on TNT broadcast, Chelios was asked about the incident. His answer was as unexpected as it was hilarious.
“If the glass wasn’t as high back there, I would have fired it right back at Dahlin after I ripped it apart,” Chelios said in the studio. And then, Chelios showed he still has what it takes.

Fans can’t stop laughing

A helmet was brought into the studio, and Chelios was asked to rip it apart. Within seconds, he had completely destroyed the helmet and then chucked it across the studio, making his colleagues burst into laughter. Fans loved Chelios for showing everyone how it’s done.
“Chelios does not mess around. Absolute legend energy!” one fan wrote on X.
“I’m surprised the studio isn’t made of padded walls by now!” another joked.
“We need more days with Cheli on,” a third added.
