On Saturday, the Colorado Avalanche suffered a shootout loss to the Dallas Stars. Even though they scored one power-play goal, the Avalanche were booed during their man advantage — something Nathan MacKinnon noticed and commented on afterward.
After starting their season with two wins against the L.A. Kings and the Utah Mammoth, the Avalanche fell to the Stars on Saturday, despite outshooting their opponent 39–22.

Booed by their own fans
During the game, the Avalanche had five power plays but managed to score only once — a 4–4 equalizer from Nathan MacKinnon that sent the game to overtime. Eventually, Mikko Rantanen won it for the Stars after scoring in the shootout. Due to their struggles on the power play, the Avalanche were booed by their home crowd. Something the team did not seem to appreciate all that much.
Nathan MacKinnon takes dig at fans
In a postgame interview, goalscorer Nathan MacKinnon took a jab at the fans for their reaction.
“I thought the power play was really good tonight. A lot of great chances. I know we were getting booed,” MacKinnon told reporters.
“I guess they don’t really know what a good power play looks like. We had a ton of chances and just nothing was going in — and we finally got one. So, I guess they gotta boo us more,” MacKinnon said.
Next, the Avalanche will face the Buffalo Sabres.
