Kris Draper’s huge mistake on his day with the Stanley Cup

Kris Draper was one of the most important players for the Detroit Red Wings during the 1990s and 2000s, helping them win four Stanley Cups in 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008. But after winning his fourth title, he — or rather, his daughter — had a little mishap with the Cup…

It’s widely known that the Stanley Cup has been through a lot since Lord Stanley of Preston awarded it to the top-ranking amateur hockey club in Canada back in 1892. In 1962, the Cup almost caught fire after the Toronto Maple Leafs accidentally dropped it into a bonfire. And in 1991, the Pittsburgh Penguins tossed the Cup into Mario Lemieux’s pool to see if it would float. It didn’t. But when Kris Draper had his day with the Cup in 2008, something a bit nastier happened.

Kris Draper Stanley Cup accident

Kris Draper had just welcomed a newborn daughter, and when it was his turn to spend time with the Stanley Cup, he thought it would be cute to place her inside it. But his daughter had a little accident — she pooped in the Cup.
Draper, however, didn’t think much of it.
“That was something. We had a pretty good laugh. I still drank out of it that night, so no worries,” Draper said about the incident, according to Yahoo Sports.
It remains to be seen what will happen to the Cup this year when the famously wild Florida Panthers get their turn with it…
