Brad Marchand’s first words after winning the Stanley Cup

Brad Marchand is a two-time Stanley Cup champion. The veteran forward was emotional after the Florida Panthers’ Game 6 win on Tuesday, and he also answered the question every hockey fan is wondering right now.

Marchand was the face of the Boston Bruins for years. He won the Stanley Cup with the team in 2011 as a rookie, and now, 14 years later, he’s hoisted the Cup once again — but this time with the Florida Panthers.

Marchand was acquired by the Panthers at the trade deadline in a move that stunned the hockey world. It turned out to be one of the best trade deadline signings of all time. During the 2025 playoffs, Marchand has proven he’s still an elite player, even at 37. Known for his grit and toughness, he’s also contributed important goals and points. After a dominant performance by the Panthers in Game 6, they were crowned back-to-back Stanley Cup champions.

Brad Marchand’s first words

Shortly after the final buzzer, Marchand did an on-ice interview with TNT’s Jackie Redmond and was visibly emotional.
“It’s incredible. It’s a feeling you can’t really describe. Seeing your family up there, and everyone who’s supported me and helped me get to this point — words can’t really capture how great it feels,” Marchand said.

He also praised Florida for the way they’ve welcomed him.
“We talked about it before the game — it’s such an incredible culture. Everyone who’s come here, even if it’s only been a few months, feels like family. People really care about each other in this room.”

Then, Marchand addressed the question on everyone’s mind: With his contract expiring, what’s next for the veteran forward? Will he return to the Panthers for the 2025-26 season?
“Eh, we’ll see what happens here soon,” he said, before skating off, lifting the Cup for the second time in his career.
