Joe Sakic

Joe Sakic is a Canadian centre who played 1,378 NHL games for the Quebec Nordiques and Colorado Avalanche between 1988 and 2009. Sakic captained Colorado to Stanley Cups in 1996 and 2001, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1996 and the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 2001, and Sakic was named MVP of the 2002 Olympic tournament as Canada took its first hockey gold in 50 years. Sakic moved from the ice into the Avalanche front office, built the 2022 Stanley Cup team as general manager, and resumed general manager duties alongside the president of hockey operations title in June 2026.
