14 game point streak

With the goal, Nylander extended his point streak to 14 games, during which he has recorded 23 points.
“I think it was a nice win after the tough stretch we’ve had. Just battling and competing to grind out a win — it was nice. I think that’s what is needed to be a good team and to be able to win those kinds of games. We were losing a lot of games, losing guys. That’s a lot of adversity right there,” Nylander told NHL.com after the game.

William Nylander made reporters laugh

But Nylander also scored an own goal early in the first period. Swatting a puck up into the air, he accidentally put it into his own net behind Joseph Woll. When asked about it after the game, Nylander made reporters burst into laughter with his answer.
“Yeah, snipe! I don’t know. To be honest, I don’t even know what I was thinking, but it was a little bit reactionary, I think. But it was nice to find the back of the net early,” Nylander joked, adding that he apologized to goaltender Joseph Woll afterward.

“I said, ‘Sorry.’ He said, ‘It’s all good.’ I said, ‘Thank you,’” Nylander said, getting the reporters laughing once again.
Next up, the Maple Leafs will play the Columbus Blue Jackets at home. You can watch Nylander’s postgame interview below.
