Wes McCauley is back with another awesome call

There’s no referee in the NHL who can make calls better than Wes McCauley. The long-time referee is known for his dramatic calls and penalty announcements, making his NHL debut in 2003.

Since then, McCauley has grown into one of the best and most respected officials in the game. The Georgetown, Ontario native has been in charge of over 1,000 games in the NHL.

In January, 392 NHL players answered a poll in The Athletic, and 71 percent of them chose McCauley as the best referee in the league.

Throughout the years, Wes McCauley has called plenty of awesome and dramatic calls, making fans, players, and even coaches laugh.

Last night, he was at it again when calling the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets.

In a situation where several players are behind the net, McCauley decides to interfere.

But he didn’t do it as other refs would. He did it the McCauley way, and we absolutely love it!

Toronto won a thrilling game. Auston Matthews scored 13:10 into overtime to complete a three-goal comeback and give the Toronto Maple Leafs a season-saving 4-3 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
