Wayne Gretzky finally pays tribute to the great Michael Scott, 13 years after the most legendary quote on TV

The Office is one of the greatest comedy shows ever aired on TV. The main character, Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, was a huge hockey fan and was even said to have season tickets to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

One of the series’ most famous quotes was in the episode” Michael Scott Paper Company,” which aired in 2009. As a motivational quote for the employees of this start-up paper company, Scott had written on a whiteboard,” You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. – Wayne Gretzky – Michael Scott.”

The quote was originally from The Great One, but hilariously, Michael Scott tried to steal it as his own.

The quote became an instant classic and has been a popular meme ever since. But Wayne Gretzky himself has never spoken about it. But that changed during NTN’s first-ever NHL playoff coverage on Thursday.

As they started the broadcast, Wayne Gretzky was seen holding a sign where he paid tribute to the legendary quote.

So, now we’re only waiting for Steve Carell’s answer.

Gretzky also got serious during the TNT coverage, including a controversial take on the New York Rangers’ disallowed goal in Game 1 against the Penguins. The goal got called back due to goaltender interference and would have meant a 4-3 lead with just minutes to go. Instead, the game got to overtime, and Evgeni Malkin could score the game-winning in triple overtime.
