The Ruck twins’ reaction to Sidney Crosby’s phone call

Being drafted by an NHL team alongside your twin brother is a huge accomplishment. However, getting a congratulatory phone call from Sidney Crosby might be even bigger. At least if you ask the Ruck brothers, whose reaction to hearing from the Pittsburgh Penguins captain has now gone viral among hockey fans.

Meanwhile, Sidney Crosby has been one of the NHL’s biggest stars in the NHL for the past two decades. During his remarkable career, Crosby has won numerous trophies, including three Stanley Cups and two Olympic gold medals.

Liam Ruck & Markus Ruck

Now 38 years old and set to turn 39 in just a few weeks, Sidney Crosby recorded 74 points in 68 games this past season. In other words, he remains one of the league’s elite players. Next season, he could be joined by twins Liam Ruck and Markus Ruck, who were selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2026 NHL Draft. Chosen 22nd and 39th overall, respectively, the Ruck brothers are the highest-drafted pair of twins since Henrik and Daniel Sedin in 1999.

Sidney Crosby phone call

Shortly after the draft, the brothers received a phone call from none other than Penguins captain Sidney Crosby. He called to congratulate them on being drafted.
“You guys must be pumped. Your family must be happy. I just wanted to call and say hi and welcome. And I’ll see you at main camp. Congratulations, guys. That’s awesome,” Crosby told the talented twins.
Naturally, their reaction to receiving a call from one of the biggest names in hockey had fans laughing.
“It’s hard to keep your words together. That’s the most stressful thing I’ve done,” they said after the call ended.

Meanwhile, hockey fans flooded social media with hilarious reactions.
“Of course Sid called them! Best captain ever!!!” one fan wrote on X.
“Sid will treat them like his children,” another fan wrote.
“Papa Sid talking to his cubs,” a third fan chimed in.
