A video went viral yesterday, showing former NHLer Nick Tarnasky fighting a man on a golf course in Red Deer, Alberta. Local police have now investigated the incident and reached a conclusion.
Nick Tarnasky was drafted in 2003 by the Tampa Bay Lightning and made his NHL debut in 2006. During his 245 games in the NHL, Tarnasky also represented the Nashville Predators and the Florida Panthers, racking up 30 points and 297 penalty minutes. He is currently coaching in Red Deer Minor Hockey.
Nick Tarnasky golf course fight
In the video, Nick Tarnasky is seen arguing with a couple of other golfers who are taking too long to tee off. The discussion becomes increasingly heated, and suddenly, one of the men charges at Tarnasky. Tarnasky throws the man into a nearby pond, punches him, and throws him to the ground. The RCMP were called, and they have now reached a conclusion.
Corporal Troy Savinkoff said that a third party called the police about a fight on the golf course but left before officers arrived.
The police conclusion
“It was essentially a report of a fight and an intoxicated individual. Nobody came forward to us alleging an assault or anything like that, and our investigation was concluded,” Savinkoff told CBC.
Nick Tarnasky is, however, under investigation by the team he is coaching.
“We are aware of a video circulating on social media involving a coach with Red Deer Minor Hockey. At this time, given that we understand the matter is being reviewed by local policing authorities and we are conducting our own internal investigation into the alleged incident, we will have no further comments,” the organization said in a statement, according to CBC.
