Paul Bissonnette is a true jokester, but on Sunday, he found himself on the receiving end of a hilarious prank from his colleagues on NHL on TNT.
Bissonnette didn’t have the most illustrious playing career. In 202 NHL games, he recorded 22 points and racked up 340 penalty minutes.

Paul Bissonnette successful career
Since retiring, however, Paul Bissonnette has found great success as a broadcaster on NHL on TNT and as a podcaster with the very popular Spittin’ Chiclets. A proud Canadian, Bissonnette was cheering hard for Team Canada at the Olympics—but had to watch Team USA win the gold medal game in overtime.
At the Olympic medal ceremony, athletes were handed stuffed animals, and Nathan MacKinnon of Team Canada went viral for his reaction upon receiving his. NHL on TNT decided to have some fun by giving Bissonnette the same treatment.
Hilarious prank on live TV
On live TV, Bissonnette was handed a stuffed bald eagle while confetti rained down on him.
“Thank you guys so much for this. I’m at a loss for words, but I’m going to take the high road and congratulate the Americans on an unbelievable tournament, and an incredible performance from Hellebuyck. No wonder everyone was acting weird when I walked in today,” Bissonnette said on air.
Fans can’t stop laughing
Fans have since praised Bissonnette for how gracefully he handled the prank.
“Best segment of the year!! That was awesome,” one fan wrote on X.
“Has there been anyone on the Canada side who has handled this better than Biz? He’s been a perfect example of how you can take an L, give credit where credit’s due, and still have so much pride and respect for his country. All class,” another fan added.
