Mitch Marner absolutely slammed by fans for ridiculous dive against the Bruins

Few things in the NHL infuriate NHL fans as much as embellishment, and lately, there’s been a lot of it in the league.

Ottawa Senators forward Tim Stützle has been slammed several times this season for questionable incidents in which he appeared to dive.

Last week, the Florida Panthers’ Nick Cousins also embarrassed himself by appearing injured, holding his hands to his face, but seconds later going after an opponent in anger.

But the Toronto Maple Leafs’ superstar forward Mitch Marner has also been involved in diving incidents earlier in his career.

Monday saw another moment of embarrassment for him as he appeared to be trying to draw a penalty through a dive.

Early in the Maple Leafs’ game vs. the Boston Bruins, Marner was behind the net, battling for the puck.

He managed to get some space, but before passing the puck to a teammate, the stick of Brandon Carlo came up close to his face, and he reacted like it had hit him.

Marner tried to get the officials to call Carlo for a penalty, and it was, of course, noticed by Bruins fans, who called him out for diving.

On social media, Marner was slammed for his behavior during the play, and to be fair, it’s not the first time he’s been involved in similar incidents. Just check out some of the hilarious reactions on social media:
