Marc-André Fleury did the perfect chirp against former teammate Jonathan Toews after record-breaking win

The Minnesota Wild’s had a tough start to the season, and when they left for a 10-day road trip, many thought that more losses were on their way. But much thanks to Marc-André Fleury, the Wild finished the long road trip 3-1-1.

Last night, they got a 4-3 shootout win over the Chicago Blackhawks, and just like so many times before, Marc-André Fleury was the man in the center. During the game, ”Flower” got beaten by Andreas Athanasiou, who scored an early goal-of-the-year candidate.

Athanasiou dangled around Matt Dumba and finished a great shot past Fleury to make it 3-2. But Fleury got his revenge. Minnesota equalized, and Fleury got the better of his former teammates in the shootout.

Fleury started last season with the Blackhawks and knows what it’s like coming up against players like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. And in the shootout, he denied both to earn his 62nd career shootout win, to surpass Henrik Lundqvist for the most in NHL history.

Fleury turned aside 23 shots during the shootout win, but he also brought his A-Game when it came to chirping.

After denying Patrick Kane in the shootout, he skated away from his goals laughing. Later, after denying Jonathan Toews, he later laughed behind his mask and waved at Kane. That’s how you treat your former teammates after writing some new NHL history.
