After news broke that John Tavares signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the off-season, many wondered how Tavares would impact the Leafs’ offense.
In his debut game against the Leafs’ longtime rival, Tavares scored his first goal as a Toronto Maple Leaf.
Tavares has scored many goals over the course of his career, but I’m sure he was a tad emotional after potting his first with his childhood team.

With time winding down in the second period, Tavares gave his new squad the lead. After cutting into the slot, he made no mistake with the room he was given.
The fans went wild during the introduction of Tavares and exploded when JT scored his first goal of the year.
I’m sure Leafs nation will have much to cheer about when it comes to Tavares.
