Carolina now have a name for their network and a price to go with it. Hurricanes games are on the Hurricanes Hockey Network, and Prime Video is the exclusive way to stream it inside the territory this season, at $19.99 a month or $99.99 for the year. An Amazon Prime membership is not required — a free Amazon account is enough. What is still missing, three weeks before the banner goes up, is which cable providers carry the network and whether any games are free over the air.
What is the Hurricanes Hockey Network?
The club’s own network, owned and operated by Hurricanes Holdings with the NHL, replacing FanDuel Sports Network after its parent ceased operations. The name and the on-air team were announced on 1 September 2026 and the Prime Video pricing followed on 2 September.
What does it cost, and do I need Prime?
$19.99 a month or $99.99 for the year, and no, you do not need an Amazon Prime membership. The club has said it plainly: a fan needs only a free Amazon account. This is worth checking against anything else you read, because several outlets have described it as an add-on to a paid Prime subscription. It is not.
Can I watch on cable or satellite?
Spectrum carries Hurricanes Hockey Network across the Hurricanes’ territory, on the same plans that carried FanDuel Sports Network, and it is live before the 2 October opener. Fubo also carries it in-market, in its base package at no extra charge, under a distribution deal the NHL and Fubo announced on 28 September. Neither has published channel numbers yet.
Are any Hurricanes games free over the air?
Ten Hurricanes home games air free over the air on WRAL and FOX 50, branded “Saturday Night Hockey” and produced by Hurricanes Hockey Network — the same broadcast as the subscription feed, without the subscription. It starts with the home opener against Washington on Friday 2 October, then nine Saturdays: 5 December, 26 December, 2 January, 23 January, 30 January, 13 February, 27 February, 13 March and 3 April. Which of the two stations carries which game, and the start times, have not been announced. The stations announced this on 24 September; the Hurricanes’ own broadcast page still carries no over-the-air information.
Am I in-market?
The Hurricanes describe a regional broadcast territory but have not published a county or state list. Out-of-market fans need NHL Power Play through the ESPN app or NHL Center Ice. If you are near the edge of the Carolinas, wait for the territory map before buying anything.
Who calls the games?
The whole team returns. Mike Maniscalco on play-by-play in his eleventh season with the club and seventh on television, Tripp Tracy on colour in his 28th, Hanna Yates hosting and reporting in her fifth, and Shane Willis on pregame and postgame in his fourteenth. Radio is on 99.9 The Fan in Raleigh, with Buzz Sports Radio on selected games and a network taking in 730 The Game in Charlotte and ESPN affiliates in New Bern and Greenville, plus SiriusXM.
When do the Hurricanes open?
Tuesday 29 September at 5pm Eastern, at home to Florida — the first game of the NHL season and the night the Stanley Cup banner goes up. It is an ESPN exclusive, so the biggest night of the year in this market is not on the Hurricanes Hockey Network. The first game on the new network comes after it.
