Henrik Lundqvist Gets Torched By New Jersey Devils’ Social Media Account

With the New York Rangers failing to make the playoffs, I’m sure goaltender Henrik Lundqvist just wants the season to end already. Nothing is to play for and the 36-year-old is longing for some rest. But, before the ‘King’ can relax all summer, he’ll need to toughen out the season and the mental games that comes with being a top-tier goaltender.

In a clash with the New Jersey Devils, the Rangers had an opportunity to hurt their opponent’s playoff chances. Unfortunately for New York, when the final buzzer sounded, the score was not in their favor. However, the biggest play of the game may have happened off the ice.

We know that social media is a huge part of the game today. The ability to get breaking news at our fingertips is phenomenal, but that’s not always what social media is used for.

In the middle of their convincing win against the Rangers, the Devils’ social media team took it upon themselves to deliver a jab to the Rangers – and Lundqvist specifically.

The Devils took no shame in using Lundqvist as a joke. The Twitter account asked, “What time is it?” to which they finished the tweet with “Five Past Lundqvist.”

It’s an old joke but definitely a classic one. You have to feel for Lundqvist, who has been the backbone of this franchise for multiple years. And it will be another season where he won’t get an opportunity to win a Stanley Cup.
