Gudbranson and Haley drop the mitts for nearly a minute

Earlier this season, Vancouver Canucks rookie Elias Pettersson was injured after being slammed down by Florida Panthers’ Mike Matheson. Last night, the Panthers and Canucks met for the first time since that incident.

If you expected this to be a bloodbath, unfortunately, it didn’t pan out that way. The game was certainly chippy and rough, but it wasn’t a war. Matheson was certainly going to be called upon to answer for his actions in their previous meeting, except he didn’t drop the mitts at all.

Matheson had just under 20 minutes of action last night, but none of it were spent fighting. Instead, we got a lopsided tilt between Erik Gudbranson and Michael Haley.

Haley was overshadowed by Gudbranson’s stature, but the pair still put on an entertaining fight. The two traded jabs and rights that lasted for nearly a minute.

These two aren’t rookies when it comes to fighting and it showed in this battle. Vancouver would go on to win the game, 5-1.
