The 2026 Hall of Fame inductees were announced on Monday, and Rod Brind’Amour was not among them. The omission prompted a playful reaction from the Carolina Hurricanes, who took a joking jab at the Hall of Fame.
“What else does he have to do?” the team posted on social media, alongside photos of Brind’Amour holding his two Stanley Cups.
The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in six games to capture their first Stanley Cup in 20 years. Rod Brind’Amour was there for both championships.

Rod Brind’Amour Hall of Fame snub
In 2006, Brind’Amour captained the Hurricanes to the first Stanley Cup in franchise history. Carolina defeated the Edmonton Oilers in seven games, with Brind’Amour recording 18 points in 25 playoff games. Then, 20 years later, Brind’Amour got to lift the Stanley Cup once again, this time in his eighth season as the Hurricanes’ head coach. Furthermore, Brind’Amour’s résumé extends well beyond his two Stanley Cups. In addition, he has won two Selke Trophies, while also capturing a gold medal at the World Cup of Hockey.
Hurricanes hilarious response
Many fans believed the Hurricanes’ recent success would help Brind’Amour earn a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame. However, he was passed over this year. In favor of Carey Price, Patrice Bergeron, Pekka Rinne, Keith Tkachuk, Cindy Curley, and Brian Burke.
The Hurricanes responded with a social media post that quickly caught fans’ attention.
“What else does he have to do?” the team wrote. They also shared photos of Brind’Amour celebrating with both of his Stanley Cups.
The 2026 Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on November 9.
