Breaking: Blackhawks fire Quenneville, hire new coach

The Chicago Blackhawks are headed in a different direction as news broke this morning that the organization has fired Joel Quenneville.

Quenneville has spent the past 11 seasons with the Blackhawks, winning three Stanley Cups in the process.

The team missed the playoffs last season for the first time under his tenure with the organization. The year prior, the Hawks were swept by the Nashville Predators in the opening round.

Quenneville’s record was 452-249-96 as coach of Chicago. The Blackhawks are off to a 6-6-3 start this season.

Jeremy Colliton was named the new Head Coach for the franchise. He spent some time coaching in Sweden before joining the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League in 2017.
