What does Michelle Gingras do for the Rangers?

Michelle Gingras reports on Rangers games for MSG Networks, working the pregame, each intermission and the postgame, and interviewing players at ice level. MSG’s own 2021-22 telecast announcement, the first release to name her on the Rangers crew, described the job the same way: in-game analysis plus player interviews through the pregame, postgame and each intermission.

The television booth around her has turned over completely. Sam Rosen and Joe Micheletti called the games in her first seasons; Kenny Albert took over as lead play-by-play voice in 2025 and Dave Maloney became the analyst that July, with John Giannone in the studio. As of September 2026, no 2026-27 Rangers telecast release had appeared on MSG Networks’ press page. The network’s direct-to-consumer streaming is moving to DAZN during the 2026-27 season, with the exact timing not yet announced. That changes where the games are watched rather than who is on them. The channels and streams are in our guide to how to watch the New York Rangers.

How did Michelle Gingras get the Rangers job?

Through an empty building. When the 2020-21 season was played without fans, the broadcasters shared feeds, and one reporter did the in-arena interviews for both teams. That reporter was Michelle Gingras.

“They needed someone to do interviews for everyone. I would do an interview with a player from every team that would go on the world feed,” she told Front Row Soccer in 2022. “We did that for a year where like we would share feeds with other broadcast teams.” It worked well enough that MSG brought her back the following season, and she has been on Rangers telecasts since.

What did Michelle Gingras do before MSG Networks?

Michelle Gingras started at the San Diego Union-Tribune and its cable channel, covering the Padres and San Diego State, then moved home to Florida to cover the Tampa Bay Lightning for Fox Sports Florida for three seasons. She also worked a season of college football sidelines for beIN Sports and spent time as a host and reporter at Yahoo Sports, before moving to New York for a digital start-up that went bankrupt within five months.

MSG Networks hired her in 2018, not for hockey but for soccer: five seasons hosting the pregame and postgame shows and reporting from the sideline on New York Red Bulls broadcasts, which ended after the 2022 MLS season, when the league moved its broadcast rights to Apple.

Michelle Gingras’s seventh Rangers season is 2026-27, her ninth year at MSG Networks, and she has outlasted both halves of the television booth she started with. In 2021 and 2022 she worked an NHL season and an MLS season at the same time.

Has Michelle Gingras won an Emmy?

Yes. At the third New York Sports Emmy Awards on 16 September 2025, MSG Networks won the Live Sporting Event Season award for “New York Rangers 2024 Presidents’ Trophy Season”, and Michelle Gingras is credited by name in the winning entry as talent, alongside Sam Rosen, Joe Micheletti, John Giannone and Dave Maloney. She had already been described as Emmy-nominated in 2021, when the Major Arena Soccer League announced her weekly show.

Where is Michelle Gingras from?

Michelle Gingras is from Tampa, Florida, and went to Tampa Catholic High School. She has a journalism degree from Loyola University New Orleans and a master’s in strategic communication from Purdue University. Her employer biography says she began her career in San Diego, which several other sites have turned into a birthplace; a Major Arena Soccer League release describing her move back to her home state to cover the Lightning settles it.

No family connection has been reported. Gaston Gingras was a defenceman who won a Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1986, and Maxime Gingras was a goaltender in the minor leagues, but nothing links either of them to Michelle Gingras.

How old is Michelle Gingras?

Front Row Soccer described her as 32 when it profiled her in October 2022, which places her birth in late 1989 or 1990.

Is Michelle Gingras married?

Michelle Gingras does not discuss her personal life publicly. No marriage or partner has been confirmed by her or by any established outlet.
