Washington Capitals games are on Monumental Sports Network. You can get it inside a cable or satellite package, stream it directly through Monumental+ at $19.99 a month or $179.99 for the year, or — new since 25 August 2026 — buy it through DAZN. What you cannot do is watch it on YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV. Both dropped the channel on 1 October 2025 and neither has carried it since.
Where can I watch Capitals games?
On Monumental Sports Network, which carries the local broadcasts of every Capitals game not taken exclusively by a national broadcaster. Three routes reach it: a traditional television package that includes the channel, the Monumental+ direct subscription, or DAZN, which began selling it on 25 August 2026.
What does Monumental+ cost?
$19.99 a month or $179.99 for a year. The annual price works out at just under $15 a month, so it pays for itself against the monthly plan across a full season. The subscription also carries the Wizards, the Mystics and the Capital City Go-Go, which matters if you follow more than one Monumental team.
Why can’t I watch the Capitals on YouTube TV or Hulu?
Because neither service carries the channel. Monumental Sports Network came off YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV on 1 October 2025 and has not returned to either. This is the most common question in the Washington market and the answer has not changed in a year: if YouTube TV is your only television service, you need Monumental+ or DAZN on top of it.
Am I in-market?
The Capitals territory covers the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and parts of the neighbouring states, and eligibility is set by your billing postcode. Inside it, Monumental+ works and national out-of-market packages black the games out. Outside it, you need NHL Power Play through the ESPN app instead.
Who calls the games?
Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin, in their 30th season together — the longest continuous television partnership in the league. Radio is on 106.7 The Fan, with John Walton on play-by-play and Ken Sabourin on colour.
How often are the Capitals on national television?
Seventeen times, across ESPN, ABC and TNT, with those games blacked out on the local network. Alex Ovechkin returns for a 22nd season having passed 900 career goals, which is a large part of why the national schedule keeps finding room for this team.
When do the Capitals open?
Friday 2 October, away at Carolina, against the reigning champions.
