Jack Hughes angers fans with harsh comments

The New Jersey Devils have been a disappointment so far this season. Now, their superstar forward Jack Hughes has made remarks that will shake the team and its fans even more.

With just one win in their last five outings, the Devils currently sit in 15th place in the Eastern Conference, ten points outside a playoff spot. On Tuesday, they lost 3–0 at home to the resurgent Columbus Blue Jackets.

Jack Hughes remarks about fans

After the game, the currently injured Jack Hughes angered fans with comments about the remainder of the Devils’ season.
“I honestly have nothing to say to them. For us, it’s just our group. We’ve got to figure out a way to win more hockey games. We’ve got two big games here before the break, and after the break it’s a long time to sort of keep the league fresh, and you’re up for a really good final 25 games. I think it’s on us. It’s on us to find a way to get more. Like I said, that’s on us,” Hughes told reporters.
But fans are not having it.

Being called tone-deaf

Many went after Hughes on social media, saying he shouldn’t dismiss the Devils’ fanbase like that.
”Another tone-deaf comment from the NHL’s ‘next gen.’ Fans are the reason you play a game for a LIVING. But that doesn’t matter, does it? Play for yourself and your ‘bag.’ Guys like this don’t leave a legacy, they just leave,” one fan wrote on X.
“Oh man, I just lost a lot of respect and admiration for Jack. Future looks grim,” another added.
“It’s a sh*t answer from an arrogant pr*ck who can’t stay healthy. How about you actually do something instead of being constantly on f*cking LTIR and being a douche to the media?” a third fan wrote.
