Michael Misa was born on February 16, 2007, in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. His parents, Frank and Sandra Misa, raised him alongside his older brother, Luke. Luke Misa, born in 2005, earned a spot in the Calgary Flames organization and currently plays for Penn State in the NCAA.
Michael Misa playing career
In April 2022, Hockey Canada granted Misa exceptional player status, making him just the eighth player ever to receive it. The Saginaw Spirit selected him first overall in the 2022 OHL Draft. During the 2022–2023 season, he racked up 56 points—22 goals and 34 assists—in 45 games. His 1.24 points-per-game average set a new record among exceptional-status players, topping even John Tavares and Connor McDavid. That season, he also claimed the OHL Rookie of the Year award.
Misa earned the captain’s “C” for the Saginaw Spirit in January 2025. He dominated the league, scoring 62 goals and adding 72 assists for a total of 134 points in 65 games. His 62 goals tied Patrick Kane’s record for the most goals in a draft-eligible season. The league recognized his standout performance with the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy as top scorer and the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL’s most valuable player.
Personal Life
Michael lives with strong support from his parents, Frank and Sandra. His brother Luke, a fellow hockey talent, continues his career in the NCAA with Penn State after being drafted by the Calgary Flames.
