Mathew Barzal is a Canadian centre who has played his entire NHL career with the New York Islanders, who drafted Barzal 16th overall in 2015. Barzal won the Calder Trophy in 2018 after an 85-point rookie season and has since been used at both centre and on the wing. Barzal drew trade inquiries ahead of the 2026 draft but stayed on Long Island, and passed 600 NHL games and 500 points during 2025-26.
