Sebastian Aho calls Finnish radio during Stanley Cup celebration

After winning their first Stanley Cup in 20 years, the Carolina Hurricanes celebrated the triumph in style. Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho called into a Finnish morning radio show to talk about the victory. But now, a video of the call is going viral. Why? Because fans can’t stop laughing at how drunk Aho sounds.

After defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 3–0 on Sunday night, the Carolina Hurricanes followed tradition. They partied hard.

Carolina Hurricanes Cup celebrations

As tradition dictates, the players and coaches drank beer and champagne from the storied Stanley Cup. The team then took the celebrations to the streets and bars to keep the party going. Sebastian Aho was the Hurricanes’ leading scorer during the regular season. In the playoffs, the alternate captain recorded 12 points in 19 games. On Monday, he and fellow Finn Jesperi Kotkaniemi called into Finnish radio station Suomipop and its live morning show.

Sebastian Aho drunk radio call

Sebastian Aho sounded exactly as you might expect—like someone who had been celebrating nonstop since the final horn. Aho also seemed determined to answer every question with nothing but “yes.”
“Do we have a freshly crowned Stanley Cup champion on the line?” host Tuukka Ritokoski asked.
“Yes, we do!” Aho shouted back.
“Sebastian, I’d like to say it’s great to hear your voice, but I have to admit it doesn’t sound too great right now. I assume you haven’t completely lost your voice. Did you leave the window open all night? Or have you been celebrating pretty hard?” Ritokoski asked.
“Yeeees,” Aho replied.
“Have you drunk anything other than water from the Stanley Cup in the past few hours?” Ritokoski asked.
“Yeeees,” Aho admitted.
