Roberto Luongo hilariously roasts the Vegas Golden Knights for placing yet another player on injured reserve

When Roberto Luongo retired, he did it as one of the top three of the NHL’s all-time wins for goalies. He is first in wins and shutouts with the Canucks, and the Flordia Panthers.

He never won the Stanley Cup or the Vezina Trophy, but he did win Olympic gold with Canada in 2010 and 2014, and in 2022, he became a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Luongo was a beloved teammate throughout all of his NHL career, and he was a hilarious guy to have in the locker room.

He became the first and only goalie to become captain in the NHL, and that speaks volumes about what a guy he was to have in the team. But Luongo was also hilarious on social media.

During his career, a mysterious account by the name @stromebone1 showed up on Twitter. Canucks fans soon realized that Strombone followed and was followed by players of the team, and not long after, it was confirmed that Roberto Luongo was the player behind the account.

He became known as the king of Hockey Twitter among the players, and today, the account has more than 750,000 followers.

It’s not so often Luongo posts something on X these days—it tends to be about a post a month—but whenever he does, it’s usually something great. And now, he hilariously makes fun of the Vegas Golden Knights and about their players on the LTIR.

The Vegas Golden Knights have injury troubles at the moment, but that could work to their advantage.

They recently added Alec Martinez to the IR, and Mark Stone is already listed as an LTIR, just like he was at the end of last year’s regular season. The salary cap isn’t counted in the playoffs, which means the players that Vegas brings in ahead of the trade deadline don’t compromise things in the playoffs when players like Mark Stone and Alec Martinez can return to play.

Many have claimed that Vegas is cheating the system by doing this. But Roberto Luongo, on the Stromebone1 account on X, hilarious posted a meme that summarized exactly what seems to be happening in Vegas.

Check it out:

Luongo’s post gained a lot of likes and attention, but in the comment section, there was a lot of anger directed at Vegas.

”If you’re on LTIR you should be out for the season, there, I said it,” one said.

”It’s pretty bad when former players are starting to make fun of the cap circumventing. Time to do something,” another said.
