Fan creates trade tree following the Gretzky trade, and it turns out to be absolutely amazing

Aug. 9 1988 will always be a special day in hockey history. The Oilers traded Wayne Gretzky along with Marty McSorley and Mike Krushelnyski to the LA Kings for $15 million in cash, Kings’ first-round picks in 1989, 1991 and 1993 , and players Jimmy Carson and Martin Gelinas.

It was the trade of the century, with the pictures of Wayne Gretzky crying at the podium forever being held as a special moment among hockey fans.

There were plenty of mixed emotions about the trade. Just ask the New Democratic Party House Leader Nelson Riis.

“The Oilers without Gretzky is like apple pie without ice cream, like winter without snow”, he said at the time according to NHL.com.

Wayne Gretzky didn’t hold back in his new uniform. In his first season in California, “The Great One” had 168 points in 78 games, reaching the Division final.

The huge trade which sent Gretzky to Los Angeles sent shockwaves through the NHL.

And now, a Reddit user have created an insane trade tree with the Gretzky trade as the start. It’s easy to say it created opportunities to secure a number of deals.
