Evgeni Malkin has signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. To mark the signing, the Penguins released a video showing Malkin signing the contract. Now, fans can’t stop laughing at Malkin’s reaction to his new deal.
“Can I add a zero?” he says in the video.
Three Stanley Cup wins, 20 seasons, and 1,407 NHL points still aren’t enough for Evgeni Malkin. On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that Malkin will play at least one more year in Pittsburgh.

Remains with the Penguins
The contract runs through the 2026–2027 season and will pay Malkin $5.5 million. Evgeni Malkin has been part of the core of the Penguins for the past two decades, alongside Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby. During the 2025–2026 season, they became the first trio to play together for 20 seasons. Come October, it will be 21 seasons, as both Crosby and Letang have contracts that extend into next season as well.
Evgeni Malkin’s hilarious response
To announce Evgeni Malkin’s new contract, the Penguins released a video featuring Malkin.
“Best city, best fans, I stay one more year. Bingo!” Malkin says at the beginning of the video.
The video then cuts to Malkin signing his new contract.
“How much they give me? I don’t know. Maybe I put more zeros? Oh boy, oh boy. Where are the zeros? Can I put one more?” Malkin jokes in the video.
Fans are absolutely loving the easy-going style of the video and Malkin’s humor.
“Geno has been and always will be an absolute beauty,” one fan wrote on X.
“Lol, ‘maybe I put 1 more zero’,” another fan wrote.
“Truly a gem of a human being,” a third chimed in.
