Connor McDavid’s hilarious mishap during NHL All-Star Player Draft leaves fans laughing; he realized his mistake immediately

It’s finally the NHL All-Star Weekend, but for Connor McDavid, things definitely could’ve started better.

The star-filled weekend kicked off with a bang in Toronto on Thursday, as captains Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Nathan MacKinnon, and Quinn Hughes drafted their respective teams from a pool of other selected All-Stars.

The draft format is back for the first time since 2015, and we’ll have some incredible matches coming up on Saturday.

To no one’s surprise, team captain Quinn Hughes selected his brother, Jack, as the co-captain, but also mainly Canucks players, picking up five of the sex Vancouver players participating in the game.

McDavid picked last in the first round but first in the second round and had an awkward moment when selecting one of his players.

As McDavid was tasked to make his sixth draft pick, he attempted to pronounce the name of Florida Panthers’ goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. But after a hilarious slip-up from McDavid, he referred to him as ”Sam Bobrovsky.”

McDavid had already selected Connor Hellebuyck as Team McDavid’s first choice.

”Yeah, we gotta go with another goalie. I think we’re gonna grab Sam’s teammate from Florida, Sam Bobrovsky, … ah! Sergei Bobrovsky,” McDavid said after picking Bobrosky’s teammate Sam Reinhart in his previous selection.

The video of McDavid’s mishap quickly went viral, and fans just found it absolutely hilarious.

Although it’s understandable, given McDavid had just selected Sam Reinhart, who also plays in Florida, it was still a really fun slip-up from the perhaps greatest player in the world at the moment.
