Antoine Roussel gets 10-minute misconduct for weird reason

Did Antoine Roussel get 10 minutes for…hugging?

The Vegas Golden Knights blanked the Vancouver Canucks last night, winning Game 1 5-0, and moving up to an impressive 9-0-2 against the Canucks since coming into the league.

Golden Knights bombarded the Canucks’ net and made sure to put Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser out if the shooting statistics through the first two periods, with the Canucks duo failing to register a single shot on goal. That’s pure dominance.

But the biggest talking point of the night, or weird situation at least, would involve two tough guys, Antoine Roussel and Ryan Reaves. The two skated towards each other in what looked like an invitation to a scrum, but instead, they continued to hug. Nothing wrong with a little bit of hugging?

However, the referees didn’t like it at all.

Earlier in the game, Reaves made chicken noises at Antoine Roussel for not wanting to fight. But when the two hugged in the third period, Roussel got a 10-minute misconduct. For that? Seemingly, for hugging.

Roussel had to spend 10 minutes on the bench. But the Golden Knights weren’t done with him, and taunted him afterwards.
