Alex Burrows receives 10-game suspension after altercation with Taylor Hall

Ottawa Senators forward Alex Burrows will miss the next 10 games after being an aggressor and kneeing Devils forward Taylor Hall in Tuesday’s contest.

Burrows and Hall were apart of an altercation after a blown whistle. Prior to the scuffle, Hall cleanly leveled Burrows and the play continued before the extra-curricular’s ensued.

Burrows found and began attacking Hall before bringing him to the ice. Once on the ice, Burrows landed a couple more shots on the Devils forward. With an alternate angle, we saw Burrows use his knee to hit Hall in the back of the head.

Burrows received a double-minor on the play and will forfeit $134,408.60 in salary according to TSN’s Frank Seravalli. Seravalli noted that the NHL does not believe Burrows to be a repeat offender.

After the game, Taylor Hall had this to say about the incident: “He punched me in the back of the head like 10 times. He kind of lost his mind,” Hall told Amanda Stein. “He has a bit of a reputation for player safety stuff.”
