Connor McDavid reveals just how close he was ending his career after horrific injury last season

In an upcoming documentary about the Canadian superstar on Sportsnet, new details reveal that the knee injury could’ve ended his career.
“No one has done what Connor has done”, coach and mentor Gary Stevens says in the documentary Whatever It Takes – Connor McDavid.

Connor McDavid ended last year in pain. During the final game of the regular season against the Flames, McDavid was taken down by defensemen Mike Giordano and collided with the goal post.

He was helped off the ice and had X-rays taken at the Saddledome

“They’re pretty mad about it, and I understand that. I honestly thought I could get that puck when I dove for it. Watching the replay, I missed it and my stick sort of trips him”, Giordano said after the game.

The injury turned out to be more serious than expected.

In the upcoming documentary Whatever It Takes – Connor McDavid released on Sportsnet, the Edmonton Oilers superstar talks about the injury and the 10 month long rehabilitation that made it possible to play at the start of the season. The injury threatened to end his career.

“He wanted to rehabilitate this. No one has done what Connor has done to rehabilitate himself back from a serious knee injury in that period of time”, coach and mentor Gary Stevens says in the documentary.
