Caleb Desnoyers recorded six assists in seven games for Canada at the 2026 World Juniors and did not score, and Canada beat Finland 6-3 for bronze. Hockey Canada’s tournament roster lists him at No. 25.

He began the tournament as Canada’s 13th forward in the opener against Czechia, picked up an assist anyway, and held a third-line place from the second game onwards, on a line with Cole Beaudoin and Cole Reschny. RDS wrote after the semifinal that he had quickly shed the 13th-forward role to become a mainstay there. The Deseret News reported that although he plays center for his club, Minnesota used him on the wing next to Beaudoin, mostly in defensive situations. His assists came against Czechia, Denmark, Finland and Slovakia. He was the second-youngest forward in Canada’s squad.

Will Caleb Desnoyers play at the 2027 World Juniors?

As of 31 October 2026, nothing has been decided, because Canada has not named a selection camp roster for the tournament itself. The tournament runs from 26 December 2026 to 5 January 2027 in Edmonton and Red Deer, and our World Juniors guide has the schedule and the groups.

Desnoyers was in Canada’s squad for the World Junior Summer Showcase in Windsor, Ontario, from 26 July to 1 August 2026, wearing No. 18, and played two of the games there. Neither Utah nor Tucson has said anything publicly about releasing him for the tournament, and AHL players must be released voluntarily. Hockey Canada’s coaching staff has not commented on him as a player.

Where is Caleb Desnoyers playing?

Utah assigned Desnoyers to the Tucson Roadrunners on 25 September 2026, together with Tij Iginla, and he has not played an NHL game. Head coach Andre Tourigny explained the decision the next day in terms that applied to both players. “They are really talented players, but at this time, they’re still learning,” Tourigny told Fox 13. “Again, they’re not ‘if’ players, they’re ‘when’ players, but the ‘when’ is not now.” He added that they needed to learn “the ins and outs of the game” and that “it’s about reading the play and being one play ahead all the time.”

CapWages lists it with a cap hit of $1,075,000 per season through 2028-29, a minor-league salary of $85,000, and a restricted free-agent status in 2029. Utah’s own announcement gave the term but not the money. Has Caleb Desnoyers been injured?

Twice, and neither injury has much published detail. NHL.com reported on 14 August 2025 that he would miss the start of that season after wrist surgery and was expected to be out about 12 weeks. No operation date, no diagnosis, and no statement from Utah accompanied it, and he had told NHL clubs at the draft combine in June 2025 that his wrist had bothered him through the previous season. He went on to play 45 QMJHL games and the entire 2026 World Juniors.

The second came on 1 August 2026, in the final Summer Showcase game against the United States, after a hit from Wyatt Cullen. It was described as a potentially serious lower-body injury, with no diagnosis or timeline published. Donskov said two days later: “I haven’t gotten a medical update on him yet but hopefully he’s OK.” Desnoyers was at Utah’s rookie camp a month later.

Who are Caleb Desnoyers’s parents?

Desnoyers grew up in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, in what La Tribune described as a blended family of six children. His father, David Desnoyers, played in the QMJHL in the early 1990s for the since-folded Saint-Hyacinthe Laser, and his mother is Martine Laliberte, who RDS says knows the game very well. His stepfather is Pascal Trepanier, a former NHL defenceman who became an assistant coach with the Quebec Remparts in 2025. “With Caleb and Elliot, I am simply the stepfather,” Trepanier told La Tribune.

Elliot is his older brother, drafted by Philadelphia in the fifth round in 2020 and a World Juniors gold medallist with Canada in 2022, who signed an AHL contract with the Syracuse Crunch on 3 July 2026. A second brother, Theo, left the sport at midget level.

What number does Caleb Desnoyers wear?

Desnoyers wears No. 18 in Tucson, the number he also had at Utah’s training camp in September 2026 and in Canada’s summer camp squad in July 2026. At the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, he wore No. 27, and the 25 he wore at the 2026 World Juniors is the only time he has worn it. No number has been announced for the 2027 World Juniors.
