Who is Jamie Hersch?
Jamie Hersch is a studio host who has spent a decade at the center of NHL Network’s nightly output. On The Fly recaps every game of the evening, making it the least scripted thing on the schedule, and she has said she prepares for it on the principle that the separation is in the preparation.
She has also hosted NHL Tonight, called play-by-play on selected showcase games, and worked across baseball on MLB Network. The channels and streams for every club are in our guide to how to watch NHL hockey.
What is Jamie Hersch’s new job?
An expanded role on Vegas Golden Knights television broadcasts. The club announced its 2026-27 broadcast team in October 2026, and Jamie Hersch hosts the pregame, intermission, and postgame shows from Studio 31 in Vegas when the club is on the road, and works rinkside at most home games.
That combination is the unusual part. Most broadcasters are either a studio host or an ice-level reporter, and she is both, depending on whether the team is at home.

Did Jamie Hersch leave NHL Network?
No, and this is the single most misunderstood thing about her. Jamie Hersch is listed as a host on NHL Network’s own on-air talent page, alongside Scott Braun, Jamison Coyle, E.J. Hradek, Steve Mears, Tony Luftman and Matt Yallof.
She did leave MLB Network. She announced that departure on air during a Quick Pitch broadcast in September 2024, closing nine years of doing hockey and baseball in parallel out of the shared Secaucus studios. The Vegas job came after that, and it fills the space baseball used to take rather than replacing the hockey one.

Jamie Hersch covered three professional sports before she settled on hockey. Baseball and hockey at Fox Sports North, then both again at the two shared networks, with Big Ten Network football, basketball and hockey alongside.
Her route in was news rather than sport. She anchored weekend news in Madison as what she has called a one-man band, shooting and cutting her own material, and she has said plainly that the time in news taught her she only wanted to work in sports.

Yes. The award was for her coverage of a group of former NHL players who ran hockey clinics for American troops at Camp Buehring in Kuwait, which she traveled to report in January 2015. She also has a Wisconsin Broadcasters Association award from her Madison years.
The Kuwait trip came out of the Fox Sports North period, which is worth noting because it was a reporting assignment rather than a studio one. Her best-known job is the opposite of that.
