Marian Hossa reached the Stanley Cup Final with three different teams in three straight years, lost the first two and went on to win three Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks. He scored 525 NHL goals and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2020. Back in Slovakia, the company that carries his name operates far from the rink.
What is Marian Hossa doing now?
Marian Hossa owns Hossa family, a Slovak food company based in Poprad that makes frozen meals, above all pirohy, the filled dumplings of Slovak home cooking, and the potato dumplings called sulance. He told NHL.com in February 2024 that he runs the frozen food business himself and is busy even without hockey. As of July 2026, the company employed more than 200 people, ran its own freezing plants near Poprad and had built a logistics center near Bratislava, Kanal1 reported. It supplies restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores.

The business predates the name. According to an interview with the company in Priemysel Dnes, it has operated in the industrial park in Poprad since 2008 and was called HO&PE family until a restructuring, after which it took the name Hossa family in 2021. It sells frozen dumplings under the Stara mama brand, and much of its work involves distributing chilled and frozen food from other producers. Hossa began investing in it while he was still playing and turned to it full time after his NHL contract ended in 2021.
Not every part of the group has lasted. A subsidiary that processed potatoes for the company’s flour products went into bankruptcy proceedings, Pravda reported in January 2025, while the main company kept operating.

Marian Hossa now: a sports center and golf course in Trencin
Hossa’s other project is in Trencin, the town where his hockey career began. In the same NHL.com interview, he described a sports center built in cooperation with the city, with tennis courts, a multipurpose surface for ball hockey and basketball, and a nine-hole golf course that had been open for about seven years. He called the golf course mostly a hobby.
As of February 2024, he held no job in hockey. He turned down an offer from Slovak federation president Miroslav Satan because the business left him little time, and he left open a Blackhawks role he compared to an ambassador. Together with Marian Gaborik, he has financially supported the hockey club in Trencin.

Marian Hossa’s Stanley Cups and the two Finals he lost first
Marian Hossa won the Stanley Cup three times, all with Chicago, in 2010, 2013 and 2015. He signed with Chicago in July 2009, and the Blackhawks beat Philadelphia for the Cup the next June. The later Cups came against Boston and Tampa Bay.

During his day with the Cup in Trencin in August 2013, Hossa served bryndza pirohy, dumplings with sheep cheese, out of the trophy, the Slovak news agency SITA reported. About 2,000 fans came to the arena to congratulate him.
