If you watch the Los Angeles Kings through Spectrum, DIRECTV or Cox, essentially nothing has changed: the same channel in the same slot, renamed. FanDuel Sports Network West is now ABTV, Angels Broadcast Television, after the Angels bought out the bankrupt network parent’s stake and took sole ownership. The open question is what happens to fans who were streaming.
What is ABTV?
Angels Broadcast Television — the former FanDuel Sports Network West, now owned outright by the Angels, who took on the production costs and the rights payments to the Kings. The Kings are on it for this season, with roughly 68 games locally.
How do I watch it?
Through your existing television provider: Spectrum, DIRECTV on 692, Cox and similar, plus Fubo and DIRECTV Stream. A handful of games each season are simulcast free over the air on KCAL, channel 9 in Los Angeles; the count for this season has not been announced.
Is there a streaming option, and what does it cost?
This is the unresolved part. No ABTV-branded direct-to-consumer product has been priced. The Angels route their own streaming through MLB’s platform, and whether Kings games get an equivalent tier has not been announced. If you were paying for the FanDuel standalone app, there is no confirmed replacement path yet.
Where are Kings games blacked out?
The in-market territory is Southern California plus parts of the Las Vegas Valley and Hawaii. Note the quirk: Kings games are blacked out in the Las Vegas Valley on ABTV because of Golden Knights territorial rights. ESPN’s out-of-market coverage excludes all three areas.
Who calls the games?
Not announced. The Kings said broadcast information would come later and no crew release has appeared. Last season’s line-up was John Kelly on play-by-play with Jim Fox as lead analyst, Carrlyn Bathe rinkside and Patrick O’Neal hosting. Radio is on ESPN LA 710 with Josh Schaefer and Daryl Evans, and streams free in the ESPN LA app.
When do the Kings play?
Wednesday 30 September at Colorado on TNT, with the home opener on 6 October against Florida. Twelve games are on national television.
