Paul Bissonnette recalls the biggest trouble he got into

Paul Bissonnette does not shy away from a little bit of shenanigans—not now, and not during his NHL playing days. In fact, one prank nearly got his entire team kicked out of a hotel.

Today, Paul Bissonnette is arguably even more well-known than he was during his NHL career. He is a highly appreciated panelist on NHL on TNT and co-hosts the popular podcast Spittin’ Chiclets.

However, Bissonnette also played 202 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Phoenix Coyotes. As an enforcer, he usually skated on the fourth line, and his teammates appreciated what he brought to the lineup. Today, Bissonnette is known for his joyful personality and for never backing down from a good chirp. Even so, during his playing days, his playful spirit occasionally got him into trouble.
Recently, while appearing on the Barstool Stories podcast, Paul Bissonnette recalled the biggest trouble he ever got into during his playing career. At the time, he was with the Phoenix Coyotes on a road trip.

The worst trouble he got in

“It was when Instagram first started. We were staying at the Fairmont in Winnipeg. You get in the room and they got these little Fiji water bottles. And they’re like 8 bucks. I posted a picture of it on Instagram that said, ‘F*ck off, Fairmont.’ Like this is ridiculous, 8 bucks for a little Fiji water? Mind you, they were giving us free water and fruit in the lobby,” Bissonnette recalled on the podcast.

Later that day, after the pregame skate, Paul Bissonnette found out he would not be playing in that night’s game.
“I I wasn’t playing, I knew I always had to do a bag skate to stay in shape. Halfway through, the coach comes out and calls over Jimmy, the assistant coach that would always skate me. He talked to Jimmy and I could sense there was a disturbance in the force. Something was up. Jimmy wasn’t as jokeful as he usually was afterward. Then, when I’m stretching, he’s like, ‘Tip wants to see you,'” Bissonnette said.

Tip was Dave Tippett, the Coyotes’ head coach.
“I’m like, ‘Oh f*ck, what have I done?’ I couldn’t remember. I walk in and I can tell he’s ready to pop. I’m like, ‘What’s up?’ Then he points to the monitor. He says, ‘They’re threatening to kick us out of the hotel because you were chirping the hotel.’ So I had to go back with my tail between my legs and apologize to the hotel manager,” Paul Bissonnette said on the podcast.
