The Vegas Golden Knights completed their sweep of the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. After the game, Vegas head coach John Tortorella shared some very honest words about Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar, praising him as a coach.
The Colorado Avalanche entered the Western Conference Final as favorites. They won the Presidents’ Trophy with 121 points and went 8-1 in their first two playoff rounds.

Vegas sweep Avalanche
However, against the Vegas Golden Knights, the Colorado Avalanche were swept in four straight games. In Tuesday’s Game 4, the Avalanche conceded goals from Mark Stone and Cole Smith, putting themselves in a difficult position. Although captain Gabriel Landeskog scored a late goal, it was ultimately not enough to spark a comeback. As a result, the Avalanche are now heading on vacation earlier than they had hoped, while the Vegas Golden Knights are advancing to their third Stanley Cup Final in just nine years of existence.
John Tortorella on Jared Bednar
In the postgame press conference, John Tortorella praised the Avalanche and said it took a lot of effort to beat them.
“We checked our ass off. That’s what stands out to me. And that’s how you win in this league, by checking. And when I say checking, not body checking, but being above the puck. Winning the battles. By far our best game. It’s something we have been concentrating on, and I think we’ve gotten better and better through the rounds. But tonight’s game was our best checking effort,” Tortorella said about the game.
He then moved on to praise Jared Bednar.
“That’s a hell of a hockey team we played over there. And I know people are crawling up Bedsy’s ass about this, that, or the other. He is one hell of a coach, and he’s got a great staff there. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Bedsy, that staff, and that organization. Get off Bedsy’s ass!” Tortorella concluded the press conference in a very John Tortorella way.
