Corey Perry shares what he said to Canadiens players

Corey Perry was seen shouting from the penalty box at Montreal Canadiens players following a scrum Tuesday night. Speaking to reporters afterward, he revealed what he told his opponents.

Few players are better at getting under their opponents’ skin than Corey Perry. Nicknamed “Worm” for his feisty style of play, he lived up to that reputation once again on Tuesday.

Huge brawl

It’s been a hard-fought series between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. The Canadiens took Game 1 in overtime, but the Lightning responded in Game 2 with a 4–3 overtime win. J.J. Moser scored the game-winner 12:48 into the fourth period, snapping Tampa Bay’s 0–7 streak in playoff overtime games.
Corey Perry returned to the Lightning — where he played from 2021 to 2023 — for the playoffs, and he has already made an impact. Although he didn’t record a point on Tuesday, he still found a way to draw attention.

Corey Perry’s response

In the first period, a large scrum broke out, resulting in multiple penalties. Perry received a double minor for roughing Alexandre Carrier, and several players from both teams were sent to the penalty box. While there, TV cameras caught Perry yelling at Canadiens players.
After the win, Perry was asked about the incident. He kept things light, drawing laughs from reporters with his response:
“I was just saying hi, just saying hi. Making sure his nose was okay,” Perry said.
Game 3 will be at Bell Centre in Montreal on Friday.
