On April 8, 2025, Ivan Demidov signed his first NHL contract. When asked about the year he’s had since then, Demidov got a little too excited — and accidentally dropped an F-bomb on live TV.
Few players in the NHL have been as hyped in recent years as Ivan Demidov. In 2025, after wrapping up his season with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL, he immediately joined the Montreal Canadiens, who drafted him fifth overall in 2024.

Ivan Demidov NHL debut
Demidov made an instant impact on a young and talented Canadiens team, recording a goal and an assist in his first NHL game. Now, a year later, he can look back on his first full regular season in the league. He has recorded 19 goals and 43 assists for 61 points in 78 games so far. The Canadiens have also clinched a playoff spot, becoming the youngest team in NHL history to do so.
It’s fair to say it’s been a strong year for the 20-year-old Russian. During an intermission interview on TSN last night, Demidov was asked to reflect on his season — and he couldn’t quite contain his excitement.
“Ah, f*ck. Oh, sorry. It has been a great time here. Time goes so fast. But it’s fun, and I like spending time here,” Demidov said.
Fans love it
Fans online couldn’t help but smile at his response.
“Fear not, he’ll be cursing in French in no time!” one fan joked on X.
“Legend,” another wrote.
“What a beauty,” a third added.
Next up, the Canadiens will face the Tampa Bay Lightning.
