Brady Tkachuk takes jab at Canadian media

Team USA has received a lot of attention after winning the Olympic hockey gold medal. Now, Brady Tkachuk is taking a big swing at Canadian media, saying he feels like he’s been under a microscope.

Team USA won their first Olympic men’s hockey gold medal in 46 years on February 22. Jack Hughes became an American icon with his overtime goal, and Connor Hellebuyck was presented with a medal by the president.

A lot of media attention

The players on Team USA have been doing a lot of media appearances following the win. Jack and Quinn Hughes have appeared on both Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Several players have also appeared on podcasts, including the Tkachuk brothers. They were recently featured on the Pardon My Take podcast, where they both took a swing at Canadian media.

Team USA and Donald Trump controversy

Some of the attention Team USA has received has been negative, especially in Canadian media, following the team’s Olympic gold celebration. First, they received a phone call from Donald Trump, who joked about having to invite the women’s hockey team, who also won Olympic gold. Then the team visited the White House and met with President Trump, who is currently not very popular in Canada.
When asked about facing Canadian reporters after beating Canada for gold and then celebrating with Donald Trump—while his brother Matthew Tkachuk returned to USA to play for the Florida Panthers—Brady Tkachuk had this to say.

Brady Tkachuk on Canadian media

“Yeah, he’s on a four-day bender and I’m sitting there under the microscope. Me and Auston Matthews are in the same position, being captains of Canadian teams. We were texting, and he watched my media because he hadn’t done any yet. I’m like, ‘This is what I have to do, good luck with yours.’ Yeah, that was an experience for sure,” Brady said on the podcast.
His brother Matthew then chimed in.
“Brady, I’m not using this as a recruiting tool because I don’t want to get fined for whatever it’s called, but we don’t get asked those questions down in Florida. Nice, easy questions—go about your business, just hang out and play the game,” he said.

Fans furious with Brady Tkachuk

Fans online are now calling out Brady.
“No sense of accountability. Just wants to party and get paid to play. You’re lucky enough to get paid millions of dollars to play the best game in the world and you’re pouty because the media wants to keep you accountable,” one fan wrote on X.
“Is he upset he’s being held accountable for his off-ice actions while being captain of a Canadian hockey team?” another fan asked.
“Lol, literally crying about getting asked questions. Sad,” a third fan wrote.
