Brad Marchand is bringing plenty of talent to Team Canada—but also plenty of humour. He proved that once again when he was asked to describe his own style of play.
Marchand is gearing up for his first-ever Olympic Games. At 37, it might seem unusual. But Sidney Crosby and Drew Doughty are actually the only Canadian players with previous Olympic experience.

Contributes with more than skill
No NHL players have been allowed to participate since the 2014 tournament, which means this tournament is seeing a lot of older debutants. A seasoned NHL veteran with two Stanley Cups to his name, Marchand contributes far more than skill to Team Canada. Known as a true pest on the ice, he’s relentless physically and never afraid to chirp opponents to get under their skin. But to his teammates, he’s also known as a constant source of jokes and entertainment.
Brad Marchand has perfect response
Speaking to the media on Monday, Marchand was asked to describe his style of play—and he couldn’t resist answering in the most Brad Marchand way possible.
“Hardworking, gritty, handsome,” Marchand said with a grin.
Fans loved the answer, praising him on social media for the “handsome” comment.
”I may want team USA to win gold, but even more I just hope Brad Marchand has fun,” one fan writes on X.

Canada will play its first Olympic game on Thursday at 10:40 a.m., facing Czechia.
