The NHL Stadium Series in Tampa was a huge success, and to top it all off, fans were treated to a rare goalie fight. This time it was Jeremy Swayman and Andrei Vasilevskiy who dropped the mitts and squared up — and fans are going absolutely crazy over it.
Fights between goaltenders are a rare sight nowadays, and to many fans it might seem like a thing of the past. But now we’ve seen two goalie fights in just two weeks. On January 19, Alex Nedeljkovic and Sergei Bobrovsky dropped the mitts and faced off in a heavyweight tilt. And last night, during the NHL Stadium Series in Tampa, it happened again.

Andrei Vasilevskiy and Jeremy Swayman fight
In front of 64,617 spectators at Raymond James Stadium, Andrei Vasilevskiy skated the length of the ice to challenge Jeremy Swayman after seeing Swayman get involved in a scrum. The two goalies met at center ice, removed their helmets, and exchanged punches. The crowd went absolutely wild, and the fight seemed to spark the hosting Tampa Bay Lightning. Before the tilt, they were trailing the Boston Bruins 5–2, but afterward they scored three unanswered goals and eventually won the game in a shootout on a goal from Jake Guentzel.
Fans are going crazy
Fans online are now praising the goaltenders for putting on a show.
“Two goalie fights in one year?! What a time to be alive,” one excited fan writes on X.
“Game of the year. I don’t care what the score is — game of the year,” another adds.
“Goalie fight in an outdoor game. You can’t tell me this isn’t the greatest sport in the world,” a third fan chimes in.
