Hockey players have their weird traditions before, during, and after games, and Brad Marchand is no different. Now, fans can’t stop laughing at what he did after last night’s win over the Los Angeles Kings.
The Florida Panthers won their third straight game last night after a slow start to the season. Their 3–2 victory over the Kings marked the Panthers’ sixth win in their last seven games. They now sit just behind the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Brad Marchand shooting rats
As usual, Brad Marchand played a big role in the win, tallying two assists. Marchand is known throughout the NHL not only as a skilled player and a pest to play against, but also as a true funny man—something he once again proved last night.
Like many hockey players, Marchand has his rituals, and one of them is celebrating a win by having teammate Evan Rodrigues shoot toy rats at him. The rat-shooting tradition stems from the Panthers’ long-standing custom of throwing rats onto the ice, as well as Marchand’s nickname, “The Rat.”
Fans can’t stop laughing
However, during last night’s game, Rodrigues left with an injury, leaving Marchand without anyone to shoot rats at him after the final horn. Marchand’s solution? He threw the rats at himself. Unsurprisingly, fans couldn’t stop laughing at his shenanigans.
“He’s absolutely hilarious—Marchy is the best rat ever!” one fan wrote on X.
“Marchy carrying himself on his own back,” another added.
“I love this guy!” a third chimed in.
Next up, the Panthers will host the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.
