Dylan Strome praises his wife after she gives birth alone

The Washington Capitals won 8–4 against the Montreal Canadiens last night. But it wasn’t the result that everyone was talking about afterward – it was the amazing news that Dylan Strome’s wife had given birth to their third daughter during the first period of the game.

Normally, a third straight Capitals win or an Alexander Ovechkin hat trick would dominate the headlines after a hockey game. But last night was different.

Gave birth during the first period

Why? Because Dylan Strome became a father for the third time during the opening period. He and his wife, Tayler Strome, already have two daughters, born in 2021 and 2023. Strome learned right before the game that Tayler had gone to the hospital and realized he wouldn’t be able to make it back from Montreal in time.
Instead, Strome decided to play – and recorded three assists. After the first period, he found out that Tayler had given birth to their daughter, who will be named Sutton Kimberley Strome.

Dylan Strome’s kind words to his wife

After the game, a visibly moved Strome shared the news with reporters.
“While the first period was going on, my warrior of a wife had our third daughter while we were on the ice. I’m really proud of her. I didn’t know it was coming this soon, but I can’t wait to go see her. I’m super proud of her and definitely playing with a lot of emotions. It’s not easy. We go on the road a lot, and our women go through a lot; their bodies change so much. And just for her to do that herself is unbelievable,” Strome said.
Next up, Strome gets to head home to meet his newborn daughter before the Capitals face the Tampa Bay Lightning at home on Saturday.
