The Florida Panthers have a long list of injured players at the moment. And the latest name added is Eetu Luostarinen, who is out after a barbecue accident. Now, head coach Paul Maurice is offering details about the unusual injury.
Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Tomas Nosek, Dmitri Kulikov, Jonah Gadjovich. The Panthers’ injury list feels like it could go on forever. And now, the back-to-back Stanley Cup champions have added Eetu Luostarinen to that list. This after a freak barbecue accident that left him with serious burns.

Paul Maurice shared injury update
Luostarinen was drafted 42nd overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2017. But he only played eight games for them before joining the Panthers in 2020 where he has won two Stanley Cups. This season, he has tallied 10 points in 18 games before his injury. On Wednesday, head coach Paul Maurice spoke to reporters and gave an in-depth update on Luostarinen, who is now considered week-to-week.
”Don’t have a lot of experience”
“We don’t have a lot of experience with this. Some of it is when he comes back and feels comfortable with the equipment on, and then it’s away we go. He wasn’t in the hospital overnight. He did see doctors in that vein,” Maurice told NHL.com.
The Florida Panthers have been struggling due to their many injuries and currently sit in 14th place in the Eastern Conference. Next, they will face the New Jersey Devils.
