Ahead of their 4-3 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins last night, Toronto Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube had reporters laughing during a press conference—by handing out a fine.
After a somewhat rocky start, the Toronto Maple Leafs have now won four of their last five games. Last night, they trailed 3-0 against the Penguins after two periods but came back to score four unanswered goals, securing an important victory.

William Nylander scored twice
William Nylander made a return after missing two games with a lower-body injury, recording two goals and one assist. Auston Matthews, who has faced criticism from analysts and other coaches, contributed one goal and one assist.
“You have to understand you are going to get down in this league at times by a couple goals, bounces, whatever happens. It’s the response that’s needed. We got that response in the third; I don’t understand why we never got it right away in the second,” Berube told NHL.com after the game.
Craig Berube made reporters laugh
However, the more entertaining moment came before the game during the pregame press conference. After being asked a question by a reporter, Berube heard a phone ringing in the room—a sound he quickly turned into a joke that had everyone laughing.
“Somebody’s phone is ringing. That’s a fine. 500,” he said from the podium, eliciting laughter from every reporter present.
Next up, the Maple Leafs will host the Utah Mammoth.
