A Bruins icon

After being traded to Florida in March, Marchand went on to win the Stanley Cup, marking both the Panthers’ second straight championship and his own second career Cup, following his first with Boston in 2011.
During his years with the Bruins, Brad Marchand became a modern-day icon. His gritty, fearless style of play and relentless will to win resonated deeply with the TD Garden faithful. For his final two seasons in Boston, Marchand served as the team’s captain.

Brad Marchand booed

During the first period, the Bruins honored Marchand with a heartfelt tribute video highlighting his most memorable moments as a Bruin. The Panthers went on to win the game 4–3, snapping their four-game road losing streak. Marchand played a key role in the victory, registering two assists.
And, true to form, Marchand found himself back in familiar territory — the penalty box. In the second period, he was called for hooking Casey Mittelstadt, making an involuntary debut in the visitors’ penalty box at TD Garden. As he skated over, the crowd erupted, playfully cheering their former captain in classic Boston fashion.
