Bill Guerin’s hilarious four-word answer after Kirill Kaprizov contract

Yesterday, the Minnesota Wild revealed that their Russian superstar, Kirill Kaprizov, had signed a record-breaking contract worth 17 million dollars per year for eight years. When meeting the press afterward, Wild general manager Bill Guerin gave a hilarious four-word answer about the huge deal.

One of the biggest talking points ahead of the 2025–2026 NHL season has been Kaprizov’s contract negotiations. Drafted in the fifth round, 135th overall, by the Wild, Kaprizov stayed in Russia playing for CSKA Moscow until the 2020–2021 season. Since coming over to Minnesota, he has tallied 386 points in 319 games.

Kirill Kaprizov signs record-breaking deal

At first, it was reported that Kaprizov had turned down a contract proposal worth 16 million dollars annually for eight years. But yesterday it was announced that the Wild and Kaprizov’s camp had reached a record-breaking deal. The contract, worth 136 million dollars in total, will begin next season and is by far the biggest contract in NHL history.
“I’m just happy to keep doing what we do and just winning here. I hope for sure. I believe one day the Stanley Cup is coming,” Kaprizov said, according to the NHL.

Bill Guerin’s four-word answer

When Kaprizov and Wild general manager Bill Guerin met reporters after announcing the news, one reporter asked Kaprizov if he was excited about his new contract. Guerin quickly stepped in with a four-word reply that made the room laugh:
“He f*cking better be,” Guerin said, as the duo sat down to answer further questions.
